Tim, what is that great looking white material at the base of the vee berth? Thats the way I'd like my OVERHEAD to look, only using wider strips. Thanks, Chris

Mixing primer 50/50 with topcoat...

Hello all! I'm currently painting my deck with interlux Precoat primer and Toplac . A tech rep from Interlux advised us to mix the second coat of primer 50/50 with the Toplac topcoat. They also suggest sanding the primer down between coats until its "translucent". Should the 50/50 mixture ...

I agree Tim! I had to look it up before I posted too. I figure that silicone with poly, but without the tenacious grip of 5200 should be a good thing. I havent heard much about it though...

Lifeseal experience...

Hi all! I'm about to reinstall all my deck hardware. For solar vents, hatches, cleats and such I'm thinking about using Boatlife lifeseal. Has anyone had any experience with this caulk, good or bad? Thanks, Chris

As far as beadboard, that would work, but this PVC would look very similar but never need paint and couldn't rot...EVER.

I've always seen the word "Hull" used with ceiling when used in that context...

Possible material for cabin ceilings...

Hello! Wandering around the boat show recently, I took note of all the various ways fine yacht builders finished the ceilings of their crafts. Morris had a custom made fiberglass molded panel with a vee groove or routed look, Amel used vinyl covered ply panels, and so on... I would like a hard, easy...

I noticed you are thinning epoxy with acetone. I have no idea what solvents are used in CPES, but they sure smell strong! I almost never use acetone around fiberglass though. I have a stupid theory that acetone will melt alot of different surface impurities, dusts and previous coatings, thereby seal...

CPES cold system claims to cure in as little as 4 days @ 32 deg. Take that, Git-Rot!

I have no idea how it differs. Does Git-Rot cure in 45 degree weather?

BTW, I'd love to try this experiment when I get a chance; Paint on CPES on ground or sanded fiberglass, then after the solvents evaporate and the epoxy is gummy, use MAS to glue something to it. Could be the ultimate bonding experience! :-)

Well, I tried the cold weather formula today for the first time. The stuff may well turn out to be a wonder drug! By far the thinest epoxy I've ever seen ( normally I use Mas) and the wood drinks it up like alcohol. After you use it once, you start looking for other places to apply it. LOOK OUT WOOD...

CPES Penetrating epoxy...

Has anyone tried the Smith Co. CPES penetrating epoxy for use under paint or varnish? I cant see using Mas or West under varnish, but this stuff seems to make sense... Thanks, Chris
