Rust stains on a sail

I just got 3 second hand sails (off an auction site) and 2 are in really good condition and one has the worst rust stains i have ever seen, as in whatever the metal was that ended up stored with the sail is still stuck in parts to it. Yeah plan is to return her to Gaff rig. I have found a yacht the same length that went ashore in 98 that has complete rig and fittings intact, just lost 1/2 the hull. trying to pursuade the owner that it would be nice if he gave the wreck to me :) Also going to try and source a nice small diesel to ...
