Zincs

I have a question on zincs for my '69 Bristol 29. I have very little exposed shaft between the hull and the prop so the past two years since I've owned the boat, I have placed a prop nut zinc. Both times the zinc was gone when the boat was hauled, not sure if it was completely corroded or just came ...

Tony
Got it. Tried last night and found out I also have to attach the yellow wire to the positive post, red alone wouldn't work. Your simple explaination on how to figure out which wire is hot is very helpful. Thanks so much.

That's kinda a requirement....electrons flow from the neg post, through the radio, back to the pos post on the battery. Sorry for being a slow learner on this. To clarify, to connect directly to the battery, I should attach the red wire to the neg post and the black ground wire to the positive. The...

Follow-up question. I've tried to connect the yellow or the red wire to a hot wire that used to go the head. It has a black and a white wire in it. It runs to the panel. Tried connecting to that and the radio wouldn't go on. Then tried running it directly to a battery, touching the yellow or the red...

Stereo Installation Question

Trying to install a car stereo (Pioneer) on my Bristol 29. Question regarding how to connect it to power. The directions say the yellow wire (marked +) "to be always supplied with power regardless of ignition switch position" and the red wire (no markings) say "to electric terminal co...

Thanks Tim. One possibly stupid follow-up question. Since the pump should be as close to the tank, is it possible to have the waste settle in the discharge line? I guess I'm really questioning the mechanics of the pumps. Once the tank is emptied and the pump is sucking air, will it still move the wa...

Plumbing a New Head System

Finally getting around to installing a new head system. I have a few questions on installation of a Lavac head. I am pumping the head into a holding tank and plan to have one discharge line to a Y-valve and then one hose to overboard discharge and the other to the deck pumpout. I'm using the Henders...

Odd question about my hull

When I look into the bilge of my recently purchased 1969 Bristol 29 I see a half dollar size spot that looks like a faint light source is shinning on it. I thought it was a reflection from light in the cabin but that was not the case. My question is can it be light from outside the hull somehow gett...

Seacocks

I have a question regarding these two seacocks for my cockpit drains on my 1969 Bristol 29. They don't have a handle. I thought I have seen Spartan Marine seacocks without handles and I believe they sell handles. Could they be Spartans? Do I need one of their handles to open and close the valvle? Do...

Thank you all for replying. All advice is much appreciated. George, I saw your pics in the forum today; most impressive is such a short time. Why can't I get my wife and kids to help out? Doesn't everyone have the passion to sand! Tim, I would say my painting skill level is good. I'm a long time woo...

Topside Painting Question

I am a new member to this great forum and first time boat owner of a recently purchased 1969 Bristol 29. As I figure out what I have gotten myself into with this boat, I appreciate the ability to tap into the knowledge many of you have. David Browne of the Bristol29 website has already fielded many ...
