faux teak deck

faux teak deck

i want the look of a teak deck in my cockpit. Can i laminate a thin layer of teak to the fiberglass floor? I am concerned about weight so the thinner the better. Its a race boat/daysailer thats drystored and covered.

Glue thin teak strips to the sole with epoxy, then fill the gaps (1/4" or so) with black polysulfide for an authentic look, light weight, and no fastener holes.

This might be heresy here, but you could check out TekDek real faux teak...wait, does that make any sense? I got a sample of the stuff and it looks pretty good. I'm thinking of putting on my Dufour. I like the idea of another waterproof membrane on the deck.
