Been looking for a 28' boat, and I've come across a Sirius 28 ..
Built early 1980's in Canada. Looks good in the photo sent by the
owner, but I don't know boo about this boat. Do you? Anyone have
any experience with a Sirius 28, or any of the other Sirius boat models
that they built? I want to use the boat for coastal, maybe someday offshore. I'm not sure the boat is up to that, since I don't know the
builder's construction method, etc.

Any info.

Thanks

Here's what I have. http://www.sailboatdata.com/viewrecord.asp?class_ID=919. I think there are a lot of them around, but mostly in Canada. The designer, (and company co-founder) Hubert Vandestadt, (I believe) is the nephew to the more well known E. G. van de Stadt.
From what I've read, (no better than third hand information, since I don't believe I've ever even seen one), they built a quality boat. I don't know how much attention you need to pay to the cast iron keel, but there are so many boats around that have them that it can't be that big a deal. If you come across an original brochure for this model, let me know.

The only brochure I can find is for a Sirius 22. It does mention the 28, but only as one on the list of boats they build.

The Montgomery Sailboat Owners Group (MSOG) keeps quite a selection of brochures, and is always happy to get more. Doug King is the person to contact with submissions at [email protected]
