West System pricing

Talk about favorite or hated suppliers, recommend good materials or sources, or anything of the same ilk. This is also a good place to suggest unique ideas and innovations you may have come up with.

West System pricing

Post by bcooke »

Has West System prices gone up in the last year?...

I can't for the life of me remember where I ran across the 4.35 gallon container of resin for $240. Unfortunately I found it right after I had purchased some for $260. Now I look around and everywhere is pricing the stuff around $300.

Driving to Jamestown Distributors is not an option. A couple of hours of driving kinda defeats the savings and shipping really kills the sales price.

P.S. I recently found a source that will sell resin in 55 gallon drums. I wish I had seen that sooner :-)

Almost ALL resins, paints, lacquers, etc have gone up in price. As has steel, aluminum and brass. The higher fuel costs for trucking are partly to blame and on petroleum based products, a good portion of the higher costs is the higher cost of base materials.

So yes it has gone up.

Have you looked at other epoxies? I've found RAKA to be really good stuff and cheaper than WEST on a mixed gallon basis. MAS is also a very good resin.

I used WEST exclusively since 1976 but lately have used other brands quite heavily. One point- the 2 - 1 resins cure MUCH more slowly in cooler weather. Once it gets hot, they are about the same.

Yes, thanks. I got a flurry of emails last night right after I got my own Jamestown flyer.

Curiously, it seems only the resin is on sale. The hardener seems to be priced pretty high.

With snow in the forecast today I have a couple more days before I can really get the spring started in earnest. That sale came just in time.
