Clark Craft Epoxy Plus
Post your experiences with Clark Craft Epoxy Plus here.
So far I've only worked with West Systems and Clark Craft so I don't have a vast amount of experience to draw on. I've used the WS on everything from boats to dog kennels to tooling solid epoxy parts for half-minded inventions. (no comment) the Clark Craft sort of fell into my lap by way of a customer who had ten gallons of it sitting around. It came with yards and yards of fabric and other supplies so I coudn't say no. Simple 1:1 mixing so there's no amine blush to deal with. Seems to mix well with various fillers and extenders, although, admittedly, I tend to be a bit conservative when using fillers fearing that I might weaken the epoxy by adding too much cabosil or whatever. Viscosity is low enough to wet-out roving and fabric with ease. It does take longer to 'kick' than WS which is nice sometimes and frustrating other times. Here's the real kicker...because of the twelve month shelf-life advertised I got a little concerned that my CC was garbage. So I called to get a little technical support. I explained the situation, talked a little while, then was told not so directly as to advocate doing this but more so alluded to as a real world application, to warm the individual components to 140 degrees F to reverse any crystalization and stabilize the resin and hardener. I did this last year and found the quality of epoxy work to be just as good as the previous year's. I intend to do this again this year followed by a round of tests and if it proves to work again I'm using it! I hope this doesn't cost some poor individual their job and if it comes down to it I'll deny ever making any said phone call and confess to being a chronic liar. But, I can say I'll but Clark Craft epoxy again. For the price I like it. Tony G
