Ok y'all,
Much to my "delight" I managed to drop overboard one of the aluminum sheeves from the top of our main mast. These are unusual in size and width, and so far I have not found a replacement. Does anyone have any ideas where I might look for such a thing, or am I stuck with machining a new one?
Oh yeah, it's been a great week, I managed to drop a 25 year old set of vice-grips and a craftsmen ratchet driver in the day before and day after as well.

That's by far one of the more annoying sounds...I hate losing things overboard. It's funny how more likely it seems to drop a tool when working over the water than at any other time. I always wish I could hire a big vac-u-suck machine and filter through the mud beneath any marina. I'm sure there would be some amazing finds!
Sheaves: well, if you need to, I wouldn't think having one machined would be too bad. Do you have any idea who built the mast in the first place? Does the new sheave need to be an exact replacement, or could something else work?

I found some references to a "Metal Mast Marine", but all the associated links were dead.

The sheeves are all aluminum, wire/rope style with a groove for a relatively small diameter (I'm not sure what size) wire and a wider groove above that for about 3/8" line. There's not a lot of room at the masthead, as there are four of these, two by two. I don't know who makes the mast, but the boat manufacturer has been out of business since the early 70's, so I don't hold out much hope.
