Last Friday we went to the Maine boatbuilders show in Portland. If you have never been, it is really unlike any other boat show. There were many custom boats, both sail and power anywhere from a dingey to a Hinkley power boat, quite the range. Seeing yards like Hinkley and Lyman Morse is much different than seeing McGregors and Hunters!
I have been before, and much was the same as in previous years. What I particulary enjoyed was the marine flea market put on to benefit Maine Maritime Academy (got a couple of bargans) and the presentation by a couple with three children who had crused extensively in the artic. They had spent the winter in places like Iceland and Norway and lived on the boat throught the winter!
