Tweaking my back by turning over the Eastport pram has led me on the quest for a truly light weight tender. I found an interesting site called Geodesic Airolite Boat Designs.
The model that caught my attention (and there are quite a few nice models) is the Black Fly 8.
At 28 pounds with a plywood bottom this may just be the answer!!!
Oh no ... I feel another project budding :-)
Hmmm, I never found these when I was researching dinghies for myself. Interesting concept, pleasant to look at, and boy, are they light.

Small boat building is extremely enjoyable, satisfying and addicting. No need to be ashamed. If I don't line up a dinghy customer by next winter I will simply have to build something I don't need. "What the boat builder wants, the boat builder gets".
By the way, in case some of you haven't heard of it yet, http://www.messing-about.com/forums/ is a great place to visit as well. For those looking to build a small boat as tender or what ever it is a great resource.

I'll keep the forum posted with the "Black Fly" project with lots of pictures, probably in the fall/winter. Still have to do the electric bike and finish re-roofing the house before it gets the go-ahead.
Ah, retirement ... never a dull moment!
