Well, here's a pic of my new (to me) boat - a Hughes Northstar Farr 727. The guy I bought it from initially thought this was a Hughes 22, which is another boat altogether. Imagine my surprise when I get to the yard and realize I'm looking at a 1/4 tonner with a rich offshore racing history.. $750 (outstanding yard fees) and a case of beer and she's now all mine.
She needs some work, the most important of which is the bulkheads that need to be redone, but the hull is solid with no blisters or delamination and the deck is in great shape - just needs minor fixes here and there but it's mostly cosmetic. Mast could stand to be refinished, and needs standing/running rigging, but all in all rebuilding her should be a great learning experience!
