If you're interested in calculating things out while you work on your boat, or just need a handy reference on just about anything mechanical, chemical, basic electrical, etc., then I strongly recommend finding a copy of "Pocket Ref", by Thomas J. Glover.

Amazon Entry for Pocket Ref

I have the second edition, but the differences are probably pretty minor. The book fits in a shirt pocket (or jeans pocket) and contains information on almost anything you might need a quick answer to. Density of sea water? Page 436. (In my edition, anyway.)

MACHINERY'S HANDBOOK is another great book of "stuff".

They're up to the 27th ed. I think but even the earlier editions are worth having. I only use mine a couple times a year or so but it's worth having.
