Save-A-Boat - The Forum for Plastic Classic Rebuilds!

I've been working on my Typhoon since January trying to get her ready to go back in the water in the Spring. Unfortunately, we live in the South and Spring is here and the work continues.

I've put together some of the before and during pictures of the work I've done. Please tread lightly on my ego. This is my first major project and I am sure I have made plenty of amateurish mistakes.

This site has been a great place for guidance and advice. Many thanks to Tim for his site and willingness to share his pearls of wisdom with us.

Nice job so far, Bly. Having those pictures will help remind you that you really are making progress.

I've sailed Ty's for years, and I owned one for a short while. You certainly found one that needed some attention! It will be worth it in the long run - they are such sweet boats. I hope you can save the trailer. To me, that's the beauty of Typhoons: being able to bring the boat back home (or to wherever you store it) on your own trailer.

Thanks for a very informative post. IMHO, you have done some of us a great service. You have shown that a pic is worth the 1000. Needing to do some of this myself, I congratulate you on the work and for sharing it with us.

I've missed my self-imposed April 1 deadline, but I'm trying to keep the pressure on. The meter is ticking on the slip and I have to get Miranda off the trailer so it can be repaired.

I feel guilty spending so much time working on Miranda with my beautiful SS23 still sitting under cover with no hope of starting work on her until Miranda is splashed.

I have solved my major problem (my husband looking at the bills for my projects...). I found him a 13' 1969 Boston Whaler and he's happily rebuilding the outboard and making plans to spruce her up. It was quite the adventure to South Georgia to the middle of nowhere to buy it.

Do tell about the adventure! My wife has been most patient with me as the purchases have rolled in with (apparently) not much going on in the boat. Of course, I had everything very carefully orchestrated so in one fell swoop, it would all magically disappear from the garage and re-appear on the boat - finished! Wolla! as the French say.
