My first day off in five months and you already want pictures?!...

Actually, I just pulled more stuff apart and did a heavy cleaning last week. Not much to take pictures of. I have a few smaller projects planned for this week.

I am also waiting for some final photos of Dasein's cabin sole before going any further with mine...

Yes, I think my boat has a new name...

Hey, don't try and pin this all on me, buddy boy! Actually, the sole should be getting installed tomorrow (Tuesday).

Hehe, nothing so creative Mike :-)
M.T. Pockets has such a truthful ring to it though. I should have thought of that earlier.

Actually, I have had the name on the NETA database for something like a year now. You would think the Commodore,Webmaster and Master-at-Arms would have had a clue as to what is going on on their website but...

I am about 95% sure it is going to be named after my sister. She cried when I suggested it and immediately named her new horse after me (should that concern me?) so I guess I am committed now. It is low key but it seems to fit if you know my sister at all. It is pretty easy on the radio as well. 'Prudence' always made me wince when I had to announce the name, otherwise I might have just left it for sentimental/historical/traditional reasons. Not that there is much left of my original boat at this point...

If you are REALLY too lazy to look it up I will announce it tomorrow. Today I have a propeller shaft tube to 'improve'. If the weather stays like this I might even pull the cover off for the summer! Lots of deck grinding is in my summer plans.

Does anyone actually look at the NETA registry?

To save others the exhausting task, I have looked it up: Jenny

Personally, Britton, I think your sister's getting the better end of this name swap deal. A horse? Hopefully it's the right end, anyway!

Happy boat work.

Jenny is a fine name!
It immediately conjures "Forrest Gump" references, but we'll get those out of our system soon enough I suppose.

I dunno if Jenny (the sister) is getting a better deal than Britton, but for sure the boat is getting a better deal than the poor horse!

(oh, come now, surely you saw that coming a mile away)

Sail Britton! Sail!!
I know I know. Only one more year...

I am definitely scaling back the project to make sure the boat gets wet next year. This year it is all about the exterior cosmetics, new rigging, and necessary interior systems. Final interior and a few other things are moving to the low priority list. It has been long enough and now I need to go sailing again.

Not much to report but here are a few pictures of my cheap and dirty fix to my altogether-too-short prop shaft tube. Note: I am only extending it to get a second clamp on the shaft seal hose. Nothing structural or truly necessary. Simply piece of mind seeing two clamps on the hose that could sink my boat.

Original tube:

It turns out Pearson seems to have used one size of fiberglass tubing for everything. This is a piece of the old cockpit drain tube (I save most everything off the boat) I just glued it in to provide some continuity with the original tube and offer some rigidity to the final structure.

Image

And finally, I wrapped the whole thing in a couple of layers of biax tape. I will give it a day and then remove the temporary wooden alignment dowel, dress it a bit, paint it, and call it a day.

Like I said. Small project. Not really worthy of its own thread.

Exactly when? My target date is mid April 08. Are you planning any thing near that date? If so I may be able to make the launch.

Well, being as April 8 is my birthday I think that date would be a great target date.

However, knowing what I know about last minute launch preparations, I think closer to mid-summer is probably more realistic. With so much taken apart on the boat I am expecting lots of loose ends at launch time.

You people are way too easy. If I get my boat painted this year I expect you will be nominating a date to host a holiday in my name.

We are people of simple pleasures, and easy to please. Just throw us a few pictures a couple times a week and you might even find we lay off on you.
