Alberg 30 refit from an empty hull

Post by Don »

This is my first post. Just wanted to say hi to the group and post a link to my project; rebuilding an Alberg 30 from a bare hull.
You can see it at: http://alberg30.blogspot.com/
I'll post some pictures here as I become more proficient at posting.
I've really enjoyed reading the posts and following the projects on this site!

Cheers, Don

Welcome to the forum - it was interesting to read through your extensive blog - particularly your engine access solution. :)

Hello and welcome!

Is that former O'Day engine a YSB-8? It's not too wide to fit the bilge of an A30?
(I had to wave one off a few years ago because it was clearly FAR too wide for a Triton)

Welcome Don! From your blog it appears you don't need any encouragement to dive in :)

Hi Don, and Welcome!

I can't remember the exact subject now, but I think I wrote to you once "back channel" from the Alberg 30 mailing list. Anyway, good to have you here, and yes, you have to post photos :-)

Don,

I really enjoyed your blog. You are moving right along! That nifty boat awning looks familiar.

WOW! Thanks for all the positive feedback!

The engine is a YSB-8, I never checked the width of the engine against the fit,.....I just assumed,......

Hi Rachel; it was you who recommended this site to me. Thanks! Its a great group!

My goal is to sail the boat to Hawaii when the rebuild is done, it keeps me going through the cold winters.

Cheers!

Don, you don't mess around. That's one way to get at an engine. I hope you're not a surgeon.

lol,.....more of a butcher than a surgeon!
I'm waiting for someone to ask what the easiest way to remove an engine is so we can reply with that photo! :)
