Are you taking off paint or gelcoat?

Why are you taking it off? I see some shine in that "before" photo.

I'm taking off paint, all 8 layers of it back to the gel-coat. The following photos show some of the pealing and crazing of the paint. They don't show the 12 inch wide strip running down the Port side were the top layer of had pealed up like a plate of potato chips since I've already sanded that mess off.

That looks a lot like my boat did before stripping and repainting. I used a long handle (18") razor blade holder. I was able to strip the paint in sheets right down to gel coat. I took 6 hours for the entire hull. I still had to sand, fair, fill, fair, sand, yada, yada, etc., etc.. But at least the paint was gone almost painlessly.

I tried the Razor scraper idea and it worked great. It only pealed the paint back to the bottom layer of pea green paint, but it's pretty easy to sand that off to the gel coat with 80 grit and the random orbit sander.

Glad the razor blade helped on your project too. Anything that cuts down on sanding is aces as I see it. Getting there.

I didn't see what you are putting back on, I just painted my boat with Interlux perfection and was really impressed with the results. Good luck
