Have you ever had to get out of your bunk quickly in the middle of the night and then had to search for a flashlight? I fabricated holders for mini flashlights and placed them at the head of each berth aboard Early Light., All it took was some scraps of satinwood left over from a hull ceiling project, a few small teak cutoffs and some sticky back felt. This is a sketch of the ones I made, but you can fabricate them to your own liking.




The finished product after a few coats of varnish:

Total cost was approximately $2 each and it took me roughly 2 hours to fabricate 5 holders exclusive of varnish time.

I had to visit the blog to see the pictures too. I love making stuff like that for my boat. Having important things like flashlights handy is really important, and the holders look great.

My solution was a bit different. I have the large mag lites, and was forever misplacing them. I happened to notice that the lights will fit perfectly in the really inexpensive plastic fishing rod holders that they sell at West Marine. I have mounted one at the main hatch and another on the main bulkhead. When I've finished using one, it goes immediately back into it's "Holster"
