Bedding

Post by JSmith »

d I have my 12 coats on the spars and are starting to reinstall. I've read other posts here and it seems for long term attachment & to retard critter growth a full bed is favored.

I plan to use Dolphinite as that's what I've always used- like the smell too. Would you seal the tracks on all the spars continually or just at the screw holes? There was no bedding under them when removed except a green clear stain which looked suspiciously like good ol Cuprinol. I'm leaning towards just the screw holes.

Hand rails are off the cbin top. For those I figure a complete bedding and then screws, bungs and varnish build up over the bungs w/ 2 finals after that.

Yup we'll probably launch in August! There must be 150 ziplock bags full of fittings w/ marker labels on them!

Dolfinite is great stuff, and yes, you want a full bed. I can't think of a single instance when I wouldn't full bed stuff on a boat except for when it is temporary or a mechanical seal is used.
