The following logo about 3/16" x 1/4" is etched into the top of my bronze mainsheet winches. I was wondering if anyone could identify the manufacturer.

I may have answered my own question, but that would also be a mystery. The Seafarer logo is too similar to be coincidental, however, I don't think Seafarer ever made winches since all their early (Holland Built)boats used Merriman or other local U.S. hardware. Here is the Seafarer logo from a 1960's magazine ad:

I wonder if these winches were private labeled by South Coast or something.

They were probably just custom-engraved for Seafarer by Merriman or whoever the manufacturer was, as you suspect.
