Ahoy, me hearties... been out of the loop a bit. Living on Wind-Rose now and getting ready to point south. Just a heads up, it may have already been mentioned.... anywho.... great article in this months Cruising World about a guy who sails his Triton from Mystic to Portugal.

I read that but was not impressed. This guy was described as pretty experienced at sea, but seemed at sea for commonsense decisions and experiences on his voyage. Why the trouble with the engine? Reduce the volume of the cockpit with fuel cans that would float (fasten them down how?)?
He's far from the first to voyage in a boat not intended for that service and many of those others have done far more creditably.
I went to a lecture a couple years ago given by a fellow who'd taken a similar boat around the world, lived to lecture about it, but the boat went from poorly prepared to complete derelict under his care.
The media would say that these folks completed their voyages safely; I'd say they completed the voyages successfully.
