anchor rode deployment/retrievel

Post by windrose »

Tim I noticed you simply added one chain pipe to the foredeck and run the other rode thru the vent. Is it easy enough to get the rode to feed back into the rode locker without the use of a windlass.

Would you change any of your set up?

What have you other guys done? Dividing the locker is a given. Thanks.

Yes, it's no trouble at all. I usually feed the rode right in as I pull up the anchor. Often, the chain needs cleaning, so I leave that on deck and sluice it down with buckets of saltwater before stowing it, but the nylon is typically clean and goes right down. The opening in the vent is large enough to make it easy.

I have yet to deploy the second anchor, but getting the rode through that hawsepipe would be even easier, as it is larger and wide open.
