"BARTON" blocks

I've found a line of reasonably (a relative term) priced blocks. They are made by Barton.

Hello Peter,
I used Barton blocks on my 30' sailboat. I found them reasonably priced, especially compared to Nicro and I never had any problems.

Where did you find them for sale? The distributers listed on the site are wholesalers, so I couldn't find prices.

Another place to look for excellent quality and relatively inexpensive hardware is Garhauer Marine. I have some blocks and a traveller by them and the quality is top notch. When I ordered my traveller I spoke to the actual person who was going to build it so he was able to ask me specific questions regarding dimensions etc. The piece is nice and beefy and really nicely finished, too. As I recall it cost me something like 225 dollars.

I'll second the Garhauer. It still befuddles me that they can charge so little for such an incredible product. My setup is almost identical to Dasein's, for I think the same price. The other "stock" travelers available were Harken or Schaefer (I think). Both ran twice the cost, and I think both are aesthetically no comparison to Garhauer. The gunmetal gray and stainless combined with clean lines and simple geometry match our classic boats much better than Harken's distracting red graphics and black everywhere. Not to knock Harken, great products, but just my opinion.

Have to agree with the asthetc sentiments. My new -old boat has a harken traveller adn it is a shock to see it.

Does work nice though.

Harken BB cam cleats belong on dinghys, not Alberg 35's.

But hey...it came that way...

Barton hardware is available through a couple of local chandlers. I visit the Barton web site, tell the chandler what I like, and they phone the distributor in Vancouver to get me a price.
Haven't bought anything yet ... just trying to build a boom vang.

Ah. Being the lazy type that I am, I couldn't deal with that many steps just to buy something... But if the quality is good and the price is reasonable...
