Living aboard in Maine?

Post by JonnyBoats »

I know there are a few people who live aboard their sailboats year round here in Maine at places like DiMillos in Portland.

I would lik eto someone who is either doing it or has done it in the past so I can learn what the issues are.

I am planing on living aboard my Bristol 32 this winter and originally planned to go south for the winter. Now I am trying to decide if it would be practical to stay here in Maine for the winter.

Thnaks.

Snow

I was in Maine, Oct. 4 a couple years ago while hiking. We got over 2 feet of snow. I can only imagine Jan. and Feb.

Heck you need a sweater in July )

I know several people who regularly live aboard in New England all winter. Guy and Karen Cosby have lived aboard their Deerfoot at Wentwort Marina for the past five years and seem very happy. A colleague of mine lived aboard a power boat at a marina in Boston harbor for more than 15 years, saving money. Shore power is nice to have., as is a sheltered dock.
