Source for Identifying Sail Insignias

I was wondering if anyone new of a source list (either in print or on the Internet) that compiled the sail insignias of boats? It'd sure be handy to have a reference for identifying some of the more obscure boats out there.

There is one good basic book that might help you. I grew up with this book... It's Field Guide to Sailboats of North America. Its by Richard M. Sherwood, at least for the dog chewed version I have (NOT dog-eared, literally munched on).

This book isn't really 100% accurate, I found some errors in it but it would work to help you to quickly find the boat you want. In the inside pages of both the front and back cover pages, there is sail insignias all over the place with the model name of the sailboat it represents. That and thumbing thru the entire book will help you to find the specific boat you want. The book shows the side profile of all sailboats (with sail insignias), the specifications and some words. But the side profiles isn't always that great. The Triton in particular... lousy side profile shown in the book, quite unflattering. I found the information rather lacking sometimes. But its a good basic book to quickly find the model name of the specific boat you are looking at. I emphasize "basic."

This is available at Amazon.com for 15 bucks or so. I am sure you will find used ones for a lower price. Buy the latest version... the older version has fewer boats in it (230 verus 255). The latest version also is roughly a hundred pages longer, too.

If anyone else knows a better book than I suggested, please say so here because I would like to get my hands on it.

If its the same one I remember browsing through at Borders, it has most of the dingy classes, but none of the basic older (60s-70s) production boats (e.g. Pearsons).

Would love to know another more comprehensive source if someone knows.

If you are looking for specific identification, I bet someone here has probably seen it...
