MD's state bird is the mosquito, I saw one carry off the neighbors dauchshound. Screens for all opening ports are a must. How have folks installed them on the small opening ports on the coachroof front and sides?
You know, the ones that leak all the time and get the cushions wet.....
screens
Wait a minute: I just left the state that claims the Mosquito for its state bird, and now you're talking about dachsund-eating skeeters? This was not mentioned in the "Land of Pleasant Living" brochures!
On the other hand, although it was only about 40 degrees here at noon yesterday, that was 57 degrees warmer than the temperature at the exact same time in Duluth. (How to make 40 sound really warm.)

I was down the boat today and it was 23 degrees - I swear the bottle of Poland Springs in my lunch began to freeze.
We bought a screen for the companionway hatch that has lead shot sewn in the edge, you just drape it around the edges and tie it off - it works great, I recall it was about $50. Bugbuster or something I think.
EDIT - yep, this is what we bought.

baby stroller net with some weight added would work . and a baby stroller net is about $5.00.
We use ours on our hatch and the elastic holds it fine.
Any baby store should have some over near the strollers.

Thanks Guys. Have you guys that own Tritons put screens in the opening ports in the wet locker/head area, v berth and coach roof portlight openings? Did you simply run the screening under the gasket and pull that all snug? Did you use an adhesive to help hold it in place?

I think the screen under the gasket would probably work. I haven't done it since in Maine it's usually fine to close those ports by the time the bugs are out. It usually gets plenty cool in the evenings.

I went the cheap route and cut pieces of tent screening big enough to cover the the openings with rubber bands around the edges to secure them. It works, it is ugly, I would like to change them for fitted screens that slide into the oval shapes someday. I envision a stiff wire frame with the screening attached somehow.
I have used the same fine tent screening with velcro sewn into the edges in past boats but for the Triton I splurged and built a teak frame with screening sandwiched in between that slides into the hatch board slots. A box type cover goes over the foredeck hatch.
