Peabody Essex Museum/Alberg Plans

I was speaking with a fellow the other day about his Alberg 37, and he mentioned a wish for a set of lines plans...I suggested he check with the Museum to see if they had them available, and he looked them up on the net only to find no search results for them.

I'm just curious if anyone has had experience in obtaining plans copies from the museum, and if so what the magic combination was...my inclination would be to call them on the phone, but given the apparent expanse of the institution I wonder where one would ask to be connected to.

Any help would be appreciated---Rick helped me out pretty good the other day, and I'd like to be able to return his good favor by at least giving him an idea who to ask for or something.

You might try a search on the Yahoo! Triton list... I seem to remember some discussions of this subject over there... maybe 18 months back? Someone found/obtained plans for the Triton... they may have some insight.

I don't think the museum is as frighteningly expansive as you think--it's not the Louvre, though it is a significant museum. I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting in touch with the person you need if you explain what you're looking for. I have never dealt with them, but those who have contacted the museum for Triton plans and such have had excellent results.

The Newport Museum of Yachting might also have some info...not sure. They were real friendly there when Jeff M. and I visited a couple winters ago. www.moy.org

That said, like you I look at the phone as a last resort too! Hate the things.

You might find them at Mystic Seaport: they have all of Phil Rhodes's plans and other designers.
