I know it's posted somewhere in this forum, but I can't find the estimated quantity of paint (awlgrip) to cover the topsides, deck and also the mast and boom of a Triton or similarly sized craft. does anyone have that information handy? Thanks.
Ps. Oh sure, I could calculate the figure myself but I honestly think it's best to rely on practical experience.
How much paint?

Are you rolling or spraying? Rolling/tipping uses less than you think...spraying something more.
Example: I think I used fewer than two quarts of Flag Blue to do my topsides (3 coats roll/tip). I forget exactly. I do know that I have approximately one quart remaining in my original gallon, which has how painted an Ensign (also 3 coats) and my Triton.
The 30' Etchells I just sprayed used a total of about 3 quarts of Off-white Awlgrip to spray 4 coats on the hull. The Etchells is 2' longer than a Triton, but has lower topsides, so I would guess the area is roughly similar. Granted, there is some waste built into this, but you have to figure that.
My Triton decks (smooth surfaces only--not nonskid) used perhaps a quart? I found a little goes a long way when rolling/brushing. I haven't painted a mast yet.
All quantities refer to the topcoat component only. Mixed quanties in each case are higher: for roller/brush application, the topcoat is mixed 2:1 with converter, plus reducer; for spray application, the topcoat mixes at a 1:1 ratio.
If you're painting everything the same color, buy a gallon kit. I'd be surprised if you needed more than that, but you will probably use more than three quarts all told.
