Question for Tim the color Wizard

Tim,

You appear to be the maestro of color combinations. I am painting a Westasail 32. The topsides wil be Perfection Cream "Hateras White". The shear stripe will be the same. I originally envisioned burgundy canvas and a matching bootstripe. The boat came with chocolate brown canvas which is still in good shape so I guess I'll keep it for now. Any thought on the best bottom paint (ablative) and bootstripe color to accent the cream topsides and brown canvas. Obviously changing the bootstripe when I replace the canvas isn't too big of a deal.

There's no reason you couldn't use your burgandy bootstripe along with the brown canvas--the two colors compliment each other quite nicely.

I think a green would work on the bottom, with either or both canvas colors--choose one of the paint brands that has a darker green in the ablative paints, rather than some of the more brilliant ones. The greens vary from brand to brand, so check them all. I believe the West Marine ablative paint actually has a fairly darkish green, if you can find it. Interlux Micron CSC tends to be a brighter green, by comparison. And then there's always the Petit Vivid mix-and-match possibility, too. I don't know offhand what Petit ACP has to offer.
