Caulking type?

Post by Tim Mertinooke »

I am re-painting the interior of my Ariel with brightsides white gloss. I have a few gaps (around the bulkhead for example) that I would like to caulk so that the end result looks nice and tight. What type of caulk could I use? Painters caulk from the hardware store maybe? I was thinking about life-calk, but this seems like overkill to just fill in a few areas.

Most caulks can be painted over as long as they do not contain SILICONE.

Interestingly enough, Painter's Caulk from the hardware store says it 100% silicone, but must be painted over within three days. I have been warned of silicone before on a boat, and heed those warnings that's why I'm asking for alternatives.

Use anything except silicone!

I have used that ALEX-PLUS stuff before, and you can genuinely paint it. It also comes off if you want it too. I don't see why you couldn't use that for what you're suggesting.

Somehow it always comes back to this, doesn't it? Mike should be chiming in with some amusing Python quote, quip, or anecdote any minute now...

That's the worst-looking hat I ever saw. I'll bet when you buy a hat like that you get a free bowl of soup.

What?
