One of the realities of living in the San Juan Islands is getting to travel on the Washington State Ferry system. It is woefully under utilized int the winter and busy and crowded in the summer.
But there is a huge silver lining for sailing up here. They report the wind encountered during their crossings.

The boatyard I work for in Bellingham has a 26' Thunderbird for general consumption so I sailed her out around the southern tip of my home island (Lummi) yesterday.
Kind of blustery and got rained on at one point but still totally worth it.
Had pretty good wind out in the bay.
Not the prettiest boat out there, but she sure is speedy!
