Came across a picture of my first boat. Well, it was really the family boat but I sailed every day in the summers and I think my Dad got to sail her three or four times during the three years we lived in Finland.
Called a Bay Boat she was 23', full keel with a nice little cabin. I have fond memories of sailing the waters just south of Helsinki and visiting many of the small islands. She was easy and fun to sail.

I'm remembering more as I look at the picture. We kept her moored behind the house. We had a dingy but i would usually just swim out, it was easy to climb aboard on the overhung rudder. There were no winches at all. Notice, no main traveler, the main sheet is a pully system off the end of the boom and down to several pivots on the deck. The Jib sheets are also pivoted at the sail for a 2/1 purchase. Interior was very basic, no head, sink or cooker, just a couple of bunks and a v-berth.
She was easy to set-up to self steer and I could wander around on the deck while she plowed along. No provisions for reefing the main meant she was really set-up for day sailing .... just right for a teen. Kept me off the mean streets of Helsinki. LOL J/K
Like most teens, I wasn't satisified, I wanted a Folkboat. Looking back, this was really a cool boat and I hope she's still sailing the Finnish waters.
