Tip o' the Hat to Tim

Post by BadjerJim »

Just a quick note... that I'm sure reflects the sentiment of those who peruse this Forum on a near-daily-basis:

Tim: Thank You for creating this forum, and selflessly sharing the wealth of information you've gathered during the years you've been restoring sailboats. I've done a lot of research on my own Cal 2-29 project, but there's really nothing else on the Internet like what you've created here.

The down-to-earth tone of your posts are so refreshing from the holier-than-thou ravings on most sites. I mean really... for example, the time and attention you spent describing how to spend days and hundreds of dollars to screw up the Awlgrip finish on your mast... stuff like that... makes me feel better about the times I screw up what should be an easy task. And keeps me going in the ongoing (and forever ongoing) restoration task for SV Gibson Girl.

To say nothing of the time you spend on personal replies to very obscure questions.

Thanks, man. I can only imagine that sometimes... it must feel like you're throwing pearls out there and nobody's paying attention. Not the case. I know that you're keeping hundreds of us encouraged and on-task for our Plastic Classics.

Hear, hear!

I'll second that heartily!

Oftentimes the knowledgable experts are just that; BUT unlike Tim, they aren't good at adjusting things for the real world of plastic classics. I really appreciate that about him because, on older boats, it's not always the perfect, textbook world. So he's got that quality IN ADDTION to the expertise.

And like you say, without this forum, the information just wouldn't get shared like this. It's fabulous. Thank goodness we're not paying him by the hour!

Note to self: Find boat! ;-)

As a crusty old Mainer who spends more time snowed in this month than out and about, your forum is my lifeline to the outside world<smile>
