SPLASH!

Post by tartan30cirrus »

I am a happy boy. Cirrus is in the water and looking better than ever with new glossy Cetol, polished white on deck and new biege non skid. New red bottom paint and touched up Jade green boot top, too. Ohhh lala.

My dodger and canvas color (what i thought was biege) looks ugly next to the warm, happy Interdeck biege. I fixed up the rudder to eliminate play and regreased the rudder tube and the tiller swings on its own when I push it. Stereo system is belting out Coldplay and the new A4 is purring along after starting up right away. The onshore breeze whips my ears, makes my nose cold, and the fog particles start to drip from the dodger. What a day!

Cheers,
Clint

Oh is it ever sweet to be in the water...its been a long few months of work but I can't imagine what Nate and others who are doing major refits must be feeling!

I must say, she looks nicer than the day we found her and she was pretty nice then. It is very gratifying to see your work on others' boats and even more gratifying on one's own!

Good luck on other folks' splash downs!

Cheers.

Glossy Cetol

Post by FloatingMoneyPit »

Clint, congrats and please post pics!
I'm especially curious to see the beige Interdeck and Cetol...did you actually use the gloss coats over the regular stuff?

I detest the orange-brown color and grain-hiding of Cetol Marine, but it's just the most damn practical exterior brightwork treatment. I put a couple coats on when I first bought my boat, and it's only starting to wear down now--3 years later, albeit most of that drydocked & tarped.
I may try the Cetol "light" with "Gloss" over it this year and hope it makes a passable lazy-man's varnish.

Cetol can get orange but I have not seen it yet. It is super practical. See my pic in project photos. I will try to get some closer ups of the wood with Cetol. The Cetol light is very nice by the way. i am a fan of darker wood. Gloss is a must. Stay tuned for more pics...would like the sun on the boat!

Cheers.
