Somebody's dreamin' alright!! A ferro cement boat is NOT gonna fetch that kinda price, no way, no how. Besides, look at the rust streaks on the bow.
Not knocking ferro boats. I used to crew on a 50 foot Ferro schooner and it was a great boat. Plus Bob Griffith's Awannee was the first ferro boat to sail round the horn.
But ferro boats aren't looked upon as being all that hot these days. I suspect he's gonna take a real beating.

Dontcha think that for 140K starting bid, the seller might have taken the time and sprung the extra couple of dollars to provide one or two additional pictures? Some people really need to lay off the crack pipe...

The only dreaming going on is by the seller. Yeah, that boat's all set to go, just drop her in and sail to Tahiti.
Give me a break.
Give me a break.
And I bet this "new" stuff has been moldering inside that disgusting-looking hull for a decade or more since its installation, too. No one has done anything to that hulk for a very long time, according to that useless picture. The Dreamer wrote:Boat is equipped with newly rebuilt diesel engine and brand new 130 amp generator and water desalination unit, washer and drier, oven etc. and four fuel tanks with a combined total gals over 500.
That's handy, since it is a sailboat, after all, and is being represented as "nearly ready to sail the world".The Dreamer wrote:Also with boat are masts.
What did this guy do, look at the prices of the most expensive 50-footers he could find to come up with this ridiculous estimate? From the single picture, it looks like I could "build the boat to its present condition" of a rusted, decrepit old hulk with the junk behind my shop. The Dreamer wrote:Boat is still under construction with some work wood work and electrical needed for completion.
Even as is, to build this boat to its present condition on todays market the cost would be near 2 1/2 millions dollars.
One shudders to imagine a bad example, then. The Dreamer wrote:This is a prime example of a Ferro-cement boat.
