Here's a doofy question which probably has a very obvious answer that my acetone fume-saturated brain cells cannot construe:
Why are the interiors of cowl vents red? Why not burnt sienna or yellow ochre or Hatteras off-white?
Is it to entice charging bulls or give color-blind dogs something to look at?
I need to new ones and just wonder if there's a reason I should get the reds instead of pvc white.

Red is a traditional choice, for whatever reason. I don't know why. I've seen large ventilators on ships with the red interiors too.
If you upgrade to the bronze cowl vents at Mariner's Hardware, you get a choice of several different colors, including red and white, but also almond, green, blue, and navy. Pretty cool.
In the end, it's a personal choice. I prefer the red interiors on the flexible cowls (versus white), but I can't say why. The varietal colors on the fancy bronze vents would have to depend on the overall color scheme at hand.
