We have some fledgling ospreys that are being pushed from the nest. They have decided Windrose is the perfect roost/ fish cleaning station/ toilet... geez oh pete, what a mess. I strung some CD's up but this seems to have done nothing to deter them. Got any suggestions?
The deck wash has become a certainty on this falls project list.... geez.

various ideas,
if you are not sailing often, they make a thin netting for keeping birds off of fruit trees, string it between the top life lines or over your whole boat. like an over the whole boat tarp. they can't land on the net. +'s cheap and comprehensive, if they cannot land (except on spreaders), they cannot poop except by bombardment on the fly. -'s have to take it off to sail. If they are young they will not be there that long and I think they might begin to roost higher than the deck of the boat. You ight try to get them settle on onto some kind of crude float. Like a piece of styrofoam with a square piece of 3/4" plywood. you could get some cheap poly pro rope and anchor it with a hunk of concrete. relocate them.
if they are landing on your spreaders I saw some where how you just tye som thick monofilament line from the shroud to the mast about 1-2 inches above the spreader. again birds cannot land.
I was thinking of getting a 3 gallon garden sprayer for my foredeck cleaning. I sail in salt water so i like to give her a fresh water rinse at the end of a sail. so I bucket it all clean from over the side and then rinse with the sprayer. (in theory) we will see this weekend
