Were do people feel the best place for shore power inlet is? Boat is a 77 paceship 26' with outboard tiller, if that matters. I was thinking of placing it on the outside of the coaming towards the aft end, port side which is teh same side as battery and electric panel. Any comments?

I think it makes the most sense to place the inlet in a convenient place where you can access the back side of it, and where it is as close as possible to the panel so as to minimize wiring. Within these parameters, there will always be reasons to move it one way or another, but in general I'd stick to this sort of location.
The after half of the outboard coaming is a pretty typical place for these inlets, so I think you're on the right track.
