When I was done with it, without really thinking I threw it in my acetone tank to soak, which I routinely do with my fiberglass tools.
The 12" knife had a handle that looked just like the one on this knife, the 8" little sister of the 12-incher:

The next morning, I reached into the tank to remove the tool, and found what seemed to be a huge blob of...well, something on the floor of the tank. Since I'd thrown in several squeegees and other items that had had some fairing compound on them, I figured the blob was just the excess compound that had collected there. So imagine my surprise when I couldn't seem to find my broadknife. Wait: there's the blade. What the...
Yes, of course. Cheap plastic handle + overnight in acetone = nasty dissolved mess of plastic, and a knife without a handle! hehe
