Hi guys,
I'm thinking about the Settees on Pylasteki. On the smaller Ariels and such, the plywood doesn't extend aft under the ice box and galley units... (i don't think anyway...)
I'm wondering how big a strength reduction there is without the span of ply running aft to the cockpit bulkhead.
I'm thinking I can gain some galley space for storage, and ice box space by utilizing the space under the settee (even though its not huge... every little bit counts.)
Thanks for the thoughts!
Zach

None. Do away with it if you want.Zach wrote:I'm wondering how big a strength reduction there is without the span of ply running aft to the cockpit bulkhead.

Re: Settees...
When I removed my settees to apply my insulation I went ahead and took them all out right to that mini bulkhead at the aft end of the cabin area. I was going to maximize my storage space too but decided the extra work wasn't worth the effort. There is maybe six inches at the deep point and the deep point doesn't extend very far. Now, if I were putting an icebox in there that is another story as it would be easy to incorporate the extra space. For me, storage space didn't suffer much by simply replacing the settee panel 'as per original'. And it was much easier to deal with.

Re: Settees...
Cool stuff, thanks guys.
Yeah, it'd be easier to leave well enough alone... I just need to cut loose the top of the settee's anyway to replace a rotten cockpit bulkhead, and with the head/hanging locker bulkheads getting moved I'd need to scarf some plywood to do it in one piece like it came stock.
Thanks guys.
