Transducers

Post by windrose »

The transducer for the knot meter needs to be replaced. I have backed off the two large nylon nuts and removed the nuts from the bolts on the backing plate but it still seems to be held tight.

How do I release the wire from the unit? On the outside of the hull, how do I release the little spinning wheel? There are three badly corroded screws that look like they may be holding the flange from the outside, I will need to drill them out.

Then I have the same issue with the depth finder transducer, it is in the bottom of the wet locker. It is a fish eye type that simply looks through the hull. It works and I would like to reuse it but it needs to be rebedded as much of the bedding is chipped away around it. Same thing, how do I release the wire and any heads up on removing the unit to reinstall.

Thanks. Ang

OOPS, wrong section.... my mind has already left the building and is over at the boatyard, gotta get my feet moving so the body is at the boat yard too. Was going to be another primer day but it looks like rain and the barometer is starting to drop. :-(
